Heating & Insulation
Winterize Your Pre-Engineered Building
Fabric and steel buildings can be insulated and heated, making them a cost-effective choice for expanding manufacturing space in winter or protecting sensitive equipment and materials from the cold.
Heating Options
External & Internal Options
External Heating
Heaters like the Herman Nelson Frost Fighter, which usually run on diesel or other liquid petroleum fuels, are placed outside your building. They use flexible ducts to bring clean, warm air inside, making them a dependable choice for heating large areas.
Internal Heating
Propane or electric unit heaters can be mounted directly onto the inside framing or walls of the building, providing efficient, even heat distribution without taking up valuable floor space.
Heated Concrete Pad
If you’re planning to install a concrete pad, think about adding radiant floor heating. PEX tubing is placed inside the concrete before it’s poured, allowing warm water or a heating solution to flow through from your boiler, water heater, or heat pump. This setup delivers consistent, efficient warmth from the ground up, making your space more comfortable.
Insulation Options
Liners & Fiberglass Batt
Fabric Liner Only (no added insulation)
Made of highly durable polyethylene, the same material as the outer cover of a fabric building. Think of it as another layer of material that goes on the inside of the building, with dead airspace in between the inner and outer layers. Capable of retaining enough heat to take the winter edge off, customers have stated they have been able to achieve above freezing temperatures, but don’t expect positive double digits. Fire retardant (FR) and non-FR options available.
Faced Fiberglass Batt Insulation
Faced Fiberglass Batt Insulation with built-in vapor barrier—an ideal choice for insulating pre-engineered buildings. Available in roll sizes tailored to your project, with R-values ranging from R-10 to R-30 and higher. Let us know your desired R-value or the interior temperature you want to maintain, and we’ll help you find the right fit.
